Brighton's
best-loved cinema is also the oldest showing films continuously
in Britain.
First opened by the mayor of Brighton in 1910, the Duke of York's
is a Grade II listed building.
The auditorium
is said to be legendary for its comfort and has been kept as close
as possible to the original character of the building.
The auditorium
of the Duke of York Cinema Brighton still houses one of the two
balcony boxes from its original opening which you can book at a
special price.
The balcony
bar is a good place to meet friends before or after a screening
and its licensed so that you can enjoy a drink whilst watching a
film.
The Duke
of York's Cinema Brighton shows most of the best films, from the
best of the latest releases to classic movies. It has live cinema
events and rarely seen gems from the archive.
On Friday
and Saturday they have the ever-popular late shows and Junior Dukes,
the Kids Club, takes place every Saturday morning.
