The Marylebone Cricket Club (the MCC or Lord’s) is the world’s cricket headquarters and has an atmosphere all of its own. Watching the game played on this sacred green turf is an unmissable, hugely beguiling experience - the dull clack of ball-on-bat, pink-faced men lazing the summer’s day away on picnic rugs, sunhats on heads, watching the cream-clad figures darting about the pitch, amongst the clink of cutlery and glasses of gin and tonic. It doesn’t matter whether the English team win or lose (and they usually lose to Australia), it’s the ritual and the code that counts. Even if the traditions of Lord’s change - the cricket, a representative of Englishness, will always remain the same. I Glorious
