The start of the international rugby season is also the start of Winter and at Twickenham - rugby’s own hallowed ground - the hallmarks are rain, wind and near-zero temperatures.A particularly bloody time, when vivid accounts of nose-bleeds, concussion, stitches and broken bones are splashed across the back pages of newspapers, along with the latest critics of the much maligned New Zealand All Blacks.Although menace and aggression are essential qualities on the field of play, the spectators are essentially an angelic bunch, not prone to the type of hooliganism and yobbish behaviour displayed by certain football fans - even after 30,000 pints of beer.Rugby isn’t about hitting a rival supporter over the head with a broken bottle - it’s about prestige, honour and warm bacon butties.Take a hip flask and waterproofs and enjoy!
