The Times
First
impressions Lovely Art Deco-style mural of a stylish 1930s’ couple
painted on the second floor exterior wall grabs your attention. Paskins,
just off Brighton’s Marine Parade, comprises two late Regency townhouses
converted into a 19-room B&B hotel.
Why it’s special
Paskins is run according to eco-friendly principles, and serves excellent
vegetarian food.
Hitting the sack
The rooms are individually designed in three styles: Regency, pop culture
kitsch, and Art Deco chic. The beds, some of them four poster, have two
mattresses, a regular one and a feather mattress on top.
Sampling the fare
Full vegetarian breakfast with home-made sausages and nut fritters. Duck
eggs, porridge, and “Pavilion rarebit” are also available.
All ingredients are organic, GM free, and from local farms. Vegan options
too.
Added attractions
The seafront and pebbly beach are at the end of the road. Brighton’s
famous pier, Royal Pavilion, and the city’s shopping streets are
a ten-minute walk away.
Bottom line
B&B doubles from £70.
What we think
Clean, green and serene with comfortable beds and inspiring breakfasts.
